CAHME Celebrates Excellence in Healthcare Management at the 2024 Awards Ceremony

On Sunday, March 24, CAHME celebrated excellence in healthcare management education programs at the 9th CAHME Awards Ceremony during ACHE congress.

This year's theme, "Ripple Makers," spotlighted individuals and organizations who believe that, despite the challenges we face, quality education in healthcare management can make a significant difference in our communities.

We extend our gratitude to our premier event sponsors and program award sponsors: ACHE, Modern Healthcare, Peregrine Global Services, Canon Solutions America, George and Regi Herzlinger, and The Joint Commission. Special thanks to Dolores Clement and the CAHME Board members for generously funding the CAHME/Dolores Clement Fellow of the Year award.

We are also grateful to our scholarship sponsors: Quint Studer, Laura Sachs and the Sachs Family Foundation, Joseph Baar Topinka, Fawn Lopez and Modern Healthcare, Robert S Bonney, Kevin Altomari and the Dawn Gideon Foundation, as well as the CAHME Board and the friends of Tim Campbell.

We also need to acknowledge our award recipients and the 120 guests in attendance – the students, educators, accredited (or soon-to-be accredited) programs, and the individuals and companies dedicated to inspiring others to make a difference. You are the true ripple makers.

Faculty Composition and Compensation Insights: CAHME Annual Faculty Editor

Since our last email, CAHME released, CAHME Annual Faculty Editor (CAFE v2.0) that expanded access to programs with larger faculty. The result was clear: more programs have participated. Detailed disaggregated demographic and faculty status information on half of all faculty that teach in CAHME accredited programs will be available to participating programs. The number of faculty with detailed compensation data has continued to increase as more programs participated.

About 1 of every 3 participating programs will be able to access comparative faculty compensation data. This means they will be able to develop their faculty compensation plan using a baseline of leading CAHME programs. Simply put, participating programs can better plan and be positioned to receive resources to attain the most important element of any program ... great faculty!

Here's an example of the power of this data.  Figure 1 shows that 53% of all faculty in healthcare management programs gathered in our annual reporting dataset (i.e., all accredited programs, certified programs, and those in candidacy) are in public universities.  Figure 2 drills down into the CAFÉ data for faculty of public universities to examine compensation distribution by full-time, Assistant Professors with a contract length of 12 months or greater.  The modal (cost of living adjusted) annual total compensation is $100,000-$109,999. Note that this information is preliminary based only on available programs and is subject to change with more programs participating.

To learn more, or to participate in CAFÉ, contact Michelle Petrucelli, CAHME’s Accreditation Coordinator, at mpetrucelli@cahme.org.
