CAHME’s Boot Camp prepares programs for accreditation with a focus on the new 2017 standards. Using case studies and scenario-based learning, the Boot Camp provides tools, technical instructions and hands-on practice on competency-based education. Offered on the Sunday immediately preceding the official start of ACHE Congress, the timing benefits attendees who are already coming to the largest gathering of health executives in the world.
The Boot Camp faculty includes two experienced CAHME accreditors:
Dan Gentry, PhD, Clinical Professor and MHA Program Director at the University of Iowa. Dan is a CAHME Board member, former CAHME Board Chair, and a frequent member of accreditation teams.
Kevin Broom, PhD, Assistant Professor at Saint Louis University. Kevin has taught in six Boot Camps in previous years. He is a member of the Candidacy Committee, a former CAHME Fellow, and a frequent member of accreditation teams.
After attending the 2015 Boot Camp, John E. Paul, PhD MSPH, Clinical Professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, said:
“The CAHME accreditation boot camp accomplished exactly what was intended—it jumpstarted the process for the attendees. The boot camp presenters were informed, experienced, and reassuring. I personally left with greater knowledge and confidence. A side benefit of the boot camp was the networking with other MHA programs, across the full spectrum of program size, stage and sophistication.”
At no additional cost, Boot Camp attendees attend the CAHME Awards Luncheon to learn how award winning programs are leading the field in healthcare management education.
