The Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME) has released a web-based tool which enables the general public, students, employers, and university-based programs to compare and evaluate the performance and outcomes of graduate programs in healthcare management education.

The FREE tool ensures that the decision as to which program to choose is readily available for those seeking to pursue a graduate degree in healthcare management. While all programs featured in the database meet CAHME’s rigorous accreditation standards, or Certification Standards for programs in Healthcare Quality and Safety, for the first time students can use CAHME’s advanced search capability to search for programs by degree (MHA, MBA, MS or others), mode of delivery (residential, executive, on line or hybrid), and by region in North America. Users can review program characteristics, a summary of the last accreditation site visit report, and three years of program-specific data including program requirements, recruitment profiles, student and faculty demographics, starting salary and placement information. The tool also provides a direct link to the program website and key program contacts.

While CAHME has provided site visit and program information in the past, this tool was upgraded to include measures as defined by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation and recommendations from the US Department of Education. The source of data in the upgraded tool is the annual reports required for each CAHME Accredited or CAHME Certified program to submit.

“This tool helps to ensure that students enter programs with more knowledge and comparisons about prior student success,” said Cynthia Hahn, MPH, FACHE, CAHME’s Board Chair and Senior Vice President of the American College of Healthcare Executives. “The ability to compare information readily across programs and to trend any program over three years of data increases the transparency of data available to the public.”
