With deep sadness, we remember Dr. Dolores G. Clement, a remarkable leader whose life and work leave a legacy of compassion, excellence, and dedication to healthcare management education.
Dolores gave generously of her time and talents to CAHME. She served on the Board of Directors from 2016 to 2024, including as Chair, where she guided our work with wisdom, care, and integrity. She also shared her expertise on the Accreditation Council, Strategic Issues Committee, Finance and Audit Committee, and Governance Committee, while serving as a Master Fellow on countless site visits throughout her career, and in 2024 was named by the Accreditation Council as the very first “Master Fellow Emeritus.”
Dolores had a true passion for site visitors. She believed in their vital role and the difference they made in strengthening programs and supporting future leaders. Wanting to celebrate their dedication, she created the CAHME/Dr. Dolores Clement Fellow of the Year Award in 2024 to honor fellows who demonstrate a strong commitment to advancing the quality of healthcare management education.
Dolores’ impact extended well beyond her service to CAHME. As a professor, scholar, and mentor, she supported generations of students and colleagues, encouraging them to grow into their potential as leaders. She led with steadiness and integrity and is remembered not only for her professional achievements, but also for her kindness, encouragement, and genuine care for those around her. Her legacy reminds us that leadership is rooted in compassion and service as much as knowledge and skill.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to Dolores’ family, friends, and the many students and colleagues whose lives she touched. CAHME is grateful for her extraordinary contributions, and we honor her by carrying forward the values she lived every day.
Virginia Commonwealth University, where Dolores served as Professor Emerita, has written a beautiful tribute that captures her life and legacy with great care. We invite you to read their tribute here.
Please join us in remembering and celebrating a remarkable leader — a colleague, mentor, and friend — whose influence will be felt for years to come.
With remembrance and gratitude,
Al Faber, Interim President & CEO
and the CAHME Team
